Braces or clear aligners: how teeth actually move at NuLine Orthodontics
Crowded or crooked teeth are hard to brush and floss around, and over time that means more cavities and a higher risk of gum disease. So orthodontic treatment is a health decision as much as a cosmetic one. It corrects both at once, and today's options are easier to live with and far less noticeable than they used to be.
The video covers both routes. Clear aligners take the removable path: a series of custom trays, worn in sequence, that shift teeth along without a bracket or wire in sight. Traditional braces put a small bracket on the front of every tooth, linked by a thin wire whose gentle continuous pressure does the guiding. The principle underneath is identical.
What makes either one work is bone, not just force. Sustained light pressure calls in two kinds of bone cell: osteoclasts, which dissolve bone in front of the tooth, and osteoblasts, which form new bone behind it. Bone gives way ahead of the tooth and rebuilds behind it, and the tooth slowly moves through the jaw to its new position.
